Facebook: Apocalypse for Business Pages

Facebook: Apocalypse

Facebook apocalypse for business pages is upon us with their change in algorithm and rankings.  The days of client puppy pictures and cute captioned kitty whisker images are long gone.

Mark Zuckerberg isn’t kidding when he says: One of our big focus areas for 2018 is making sure the time we all spend on Facebook is time well spent.

If you manage social media for your veterinary or pet business, you have to understand algorithm.  Facebook algorithm determines the posts that people see first in their Newsfeed.

So how will Facebook now decide algorithm, rankings and content disbursement?

This is essentially the beginning of the end for Facebook business pages if you don’t take immediate action.  Even more so if you don’t change your current marketing strategy.

I have been saying for the past two years, that it’s a must to switch your Facebook strategy to original content and not just shares from other pages.  You must offer custom video, and more importantly; Facebook Live content is something you have to embrace.  It is also imperative that your followers engage in conversation on your business page Facebook posts, to alert Facebook to the fact that it is enjoyed and valuable content.

In Zuckerberg’s own words: recently we’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content — posts from businesses, brands and media — is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other.

If you are a veterinarian or work in the pet industry and are responsible for your marketing strategy and/or social content, join our Facebook group and follow our Facebook page, Vets and Pets Marketing Solutions.  You’ll find more updates on these changes as it unfolds, marketing strategy ideas, as well as ways to help you with video and Facebook Live content to assist you in staying visible in the newsfeed.
